VVC members Neil Humphries and Roger Green, the duo behind Wessex Scooters, missed the recent VVC annual general meeting as they were pushing the Ecooter range of fully electric scooters, at the NEC in Birmingham on Saturday 19th October. Wessex Scooters became an Ecooter dealer back in August and offer the electric scooters in addition to their restoration and maintenance services for classic Vespa and Lambretta petrol scooters. Roger Green, the VVC’s Technical Advisor, explains more..
”We were there at the Motorhome and Caravan show promoting the Ecooter range of fully electric scooters. These are ideal for Motorhomes because they are small and light enough to fit in the rear garage section on large motorhomes, or on a rear carrying rack on smaller camper vans.
We chatted to many visitors at the show and every person we spoke to was impressed with the design and idea of an electric scooter which has been a theme whenever we show off these scooters to people, some people don't even realize that electric powered scooters even exist let alone have a 50+ mile range and 50mph+ top speed.
We have been an Ecooter dealer since August (of course we still do vintage scooter work too!) and we are very impressed with the scooters and the whole concept of a zero emission vehicle, in many ways it makes petrol powered vehicles seem medieval with all those inefficient moving parts and maybe we are looking to correct the balance after putting so many old polluting two-strokes on the road.....perhaps it's not too late for redemption! ; )
Thanks to Roger for the words and photos - you can see the range here: wessexscooters.co.uk/ecooter
