Bill and Helen Gaskins sent me the following letter after reading the tribute to Jet Whittle in the latest VVC JOURNAL (No.85)..
Hi Paul
Helen and I were very sad to hear that Jet Whittle had passed away. It prompted me to send you the attached text and photo of Jet when he captained the British Gymkhana Team who went to Le Mans in 1961. He was a great character, always joking and kept his sense of humour right up to the end.
We often visited Jet and Jane on holiday in France and last year went down to see Jet’s wonderful model railway installation in their house in Paignton.
Jet always recounted his Vespa days with a strong feeling of nostalgia and pride!
