Where to start… stepping outside things look mostly normal, yet everything has changed.. Like everyone else I’m trying to get my head around what’s happening..
I prefer to keep this online space positive and somewhere members can have respite from the world’s woes, politics and goings on, so won’t be using it to ruminate on the situation we currently find ourselves in.
As you will have seen from the previous post, regrettably the club’s events have had to be postponed but all being well the Torbay event will go ahead later this year on 11-14th September; the Wakefield and Cherbourg rallies have been moved to 2021.
Considering we won’t be getting out quite as much as we had planned to this year, I hope this News Page can continue to bring members snippets and points of interest on what we are collectively getting up to on our Vespas; whether maintenance or restorations in our sheds/workshops, or nipping out for a trip to the er… supermarket or pharmacy! So please do send/email me anything you are happy to share on here with the rest of the club - old photos, stories etc, now that we may have more time on our hands to dig out such things and more time to put pen to paper or fingers to anti-bac wiped keyboards.. my email address is vespamore@hotmail.co.uk
It may be all a bit doom and gloom in this moment but there are always positives if you care to look for them; spring is just around the corner and I for one can’t wait for the longer, warmer days to arrive. I rode my Vespa GT160 to work today in the cold and damp and suffered a rear puncture - on the plus side I’d just come off the Watford ring road doing sixty into a 40mph zone when it happened.. no harm done fortunately and I had a spare that I could fit - hurrah !!
Anyway, stay safe and wishing you all well.. and remember folks, just buy what you need and leave something for everyone else ; )
All the best - Paul Hart (VVC Editor).
