Club members, Roger Smith and Warren Jopson travelled up from the south coast and Essex respectively, to represent the VVC at the inaugural ScooterExpo event in Alfreton, Derbyshire. They both took a bike each for display - Warren with his very impressive ‘Racer’, featured in issue 2 of ScooterNova magazine and Roger brought along his rather lovely original paint red SS180. Other VVC members, Les Smith and general secretary, David Ball were also on hand to lend their support..
ScooterExpo – Alfreton 28th July 2019 hosted by ScooterLabUK and ScooterNova magazine.
“The invitation for the VVC to participate in this new show came somewhat as a surprise as our club is more attuned with keeping and riding vintage Vespas; wherever possible retaining the original patina as a testament to their history. But we were glad to be there, even if our display machines stood out, not for the quality of the shining chrome & paint, but more for the lack of it!
The show was an undoubted success, a great number of scooters on display, all types of clever airbrushing, chromed effects, accessories, tuned engines. Good support from dealers, specialists and guest speakers with a tale or two to unload.
VVC member Matthew Babbington picked up Best Classic Vespa award for his ‘Arc-en-Ciel’ styled GS150 - featured.in VVC JOURNAL No.76.
Would I go again? Yes but how about having a venue in the London area for 2020???!!!!” - Roger Smith.
