Bavarian based Bernd Kirschner, some of you may remember, is the guy behind Hola Vespa, regularly sourcing nice original, straight Vespas and Lambrettas from Spain. Once back home the scooters are cleaned up by Bernd and mechanically sorted, before finding new owners and being returned to the road. Bernd has a liking for keeping things original wherever he can and shies away from the full resto option. The lovely Rally before us belongs to Bernd and is a German example rather than Spanish as he explains..
“Hi Paul, the story about the Vespa Rally 200 from 1977.
I got the Rally from one of my best friends by switching it against a Motovespa Sport from 1956. The plan was to sell it for good money, but when I drove it first time I had to keep it urgently. It is a rare German model in color Giallo Karakiri 908. Piaggio production, assembled in Germany, sold at Munich dealer Brückl. It was forgotten for 20 years in a Munich garage, 13,000 original Km. It’s 197 ccm, 12 HP, Femsa 6V ignition, battery, German Hella lights. I just cleaned the tank and carburetor, new tires and back on the road. I really enjoy the bike ...”
