Dropped my scooter in this week for a service at Retrospective Scootersprior to commuting to work by Vespa from April; a good idea to get it given a good once over before getting back in the saddle.
ScooterNova magazine’s creator and editor is a VVC member and asked if he could share the Ape feature in his publication. What with ScooterNova’s larger A4 scale and additional space, the answer was always going to be a “yes”!
This feature was originally printed in the 2019 winter JOURNAL (No.81). I'm duplicating it here on the VVC website News Page but with added photos supplied by Roger that I couldn't squeeze into the magazine due to space restrictions..
Sicilians seem to have a stock in trade in ornate decoration - you can see plenty of images of highly adorned Vespas and Apes, like this one sent in by Dario Cerana.
On a recent visit to VVC member, Darren Bradbury in East London, I got a good look at the latest additions to his impressive collection of classic, vintage scooters.
Warren & Hayley Jopson sent me these excellent photos from their September trip to Bella Italia! Journeying down from the UK in their VW Transporter, loaded with a couple of beautiful Vespa wideframes.
I previously added a post on a mystery 1950s Milan Vespa rally. Auro Meotto has now been able to enlighten me, after he found details of the event in an old copy he owns of Motociclismo magazine.
New VVC member, Nigel Shuttleworth, sent me an email along with an original article he wrote, some three years ago, for Morton's ‘Real Classic’ (motorcycle magazine) - explaining the ins and outs of Bio-Ethanol in fuel.
It's been a good All Hallowes Eve so far, having the day off work always makes for a happy day! It’s also been the perfect day for a warm, sunny ride, rounding October off very nicely.
